A flittered presence amongst a field so grande, where color sprays, such a visual demand. Our eyes can surely not resist, to rest our gaze upon their paletted bliss. And so each year, butterflies take to the winds, gathering nectar, pollinating next year’s gardens and fields. This poem brings the reader snuggly into the midst of a butterfly’s beauty as it intoxicates our thoughts and renders our soul … adrift.
Title: Pollen Prance
Gather pollen’s powdery dew
take a breath, flutter & fly
forest eyes and raven’s breath
hail your flight, upon the sky.
Tip toe, curtsy & petal prance
a taste of nectar
absorbs you, like a tranquil trance.
Valley highs and prairie plains
boisterously boost of last year’s flame
time in essence, in short remain.
Tip toe, curtsy & petal prance
Take my breath
…. flutter & fly.

one night
I dreamt
that I was a butterfly
flying from flower
to flower
enjoying the fresh air
and the sweet tasting
nectar of the flowers
while dodging the birds
and the bees
determined to do me in
then the butterfly
fell asleep
and dreamt
that he
had been turned
into a man
and he was miserable
wearing a suit
commuting to an office
not having time
to smell the flower
and wander the garden
down the path
hither and thither
the man
fell asleep
and dreamt
that he was
again a butterfly
was he a man
or a butterfly
only God knows
and he is silent
as always
