Seashells by Donna J. Sanders

If only we could

lather ourselves

with salty sands

let our skin exfoliate

cleansing our souls from hate

of supply and demand

But instead we crumble

like seashells

in the seashore’s tumble

leaving sharp shards

of what was once human
