Finally my luck has run out
The battle done
Enemies vanquished
My wound pulsing crimson rivulets
Fallen on weak knees
Struggling to suck in ice cold air
Lungs shredded by my enemies’ blade
Pebbles and rocks tearing into battered flesh
Rain pounding down upon my bowed head
As the wind buffets me
The scent of wet steel and earth caress my nostrils
Pungent yet inviting
My weathered blade so strangely heavy
My hand trembles with utter weariness
Stars reflected in dirty puddles of water
Glimmer softly to my dimming eyes
My shade rises slowly as Odin calls
Valhalla awaits
My reward
