Listen by Tracy Seiden

Hours spent talking, watching the way his face moved, his throat working, the way his eyes softened to that far away look you get when you’re caught in it – those memories of events that started out one way and ended up changing your life.

She listened with her ears, sure, but also with her eyes watching the words shape him amused by the way his brow furrowed when he talked about what moved him. She listened with her nose, inhaling his cologne every now and again as he got comfortable, opened up, turned his body to face hers and just spoke, even if his eyes rarely looked in her direction. He was here and present, guard all but forgotten in his taking that chance that she would hear him.

His voice floated on memory and nostalgia playing on the keys of her mind in a beautiful melody of him, and when he spoke her name it was as if a thousand symphonies played before her.
