BROKEN PIECES
The empty jar sat precariously
high upon the dusty shelf,
until a careless closing of the kitchen door
set in motion the gravitational force
causing the jar to fall and shatter
onto the cool marble tiles.
Now the scattered parts lie forlornly,
some shards gleam with fading light
which streams through the window;
as the cracked remains wait
for those scarred, bloody hands
to pick up the pieces again.
