The Final Show
He knew it had been his final show. No one else knew. Not his band, nor the fans, nor anyone else.
He went back on stage after all had left. The cleaning people were the only souls besides himself as he sauntered onto stage one last time. He belted out an old church hum he first sang in his family’s church as a boy.
The cleaning people applauded when he was done. It would be his last performance ever.
In a few days, he would be checked into a hospital, where he would probably not leave alive. He left the stage and the auditorium with tears in his eyes, but a song in his heart.
