Excerpt from Measuring For Balance by Author Demitri Tyler
My Skin
My skin your bad memory
My skin gets you remembering
My skin declaring humanity
In search of independence from your skin
My skin will never forget your dis-ease
Your chains,
Your whips
Your dark skin animosity
My own skin . . .
it never broke but hardened
calloused,
rebelled
yet remains warm
open in touch
This gets under your skin
Tickles mine . . .
when will you forget about skin?
get out of your skin
split it peel it shed and leave it behind you
You must climb out of your skin.

Demitri is one of those poets who gets inside the soul & makes his home there. I know everyone has their favourite poets & genres of poetry, but Demitri´s work just hits me in the right place every time. He is a poet with such a deep soul that one cannot ignore him & once one has read his work, it is never forgotten. Thank you dear Bard for “You”.x
