Praise the lord
the preachers say
praise the president
the president’s accolades say
Praise your boss
the company says
but I will not praise any of these
for they do not serve my praise
but more than anything else
one should praise
those whom
have stayed
by your side
so I won’t praise God
if he/she exists
other than to praise
him for sending me
the love of my love
who deserves
all the praises
of the universe

the preacher says praise Jesus
the muslim cleric says Praise Allah
the corporations say praise capitalism
your office says praise your boss
and the politicians
bow down in praise
of our dear leader
but I say
enough no more
they are not worthy
of my praise
except for God
if he/she exists
for bringing me
my Angel
who walked out
of my dreams
38 years ago
I say
Praise your wife
every day
of your life
and realize
with out her love
life would have
lost all meaning
so praise the wife
until death
takes her from you
