Apples
apples
all my life
i have had a love hate thing
about the humble apple
My grandfather was an apple farmer
in Yakima Washington
Spent late August every year
helping pick apples
and pears and plums
and ate so many apples
that I grew sick of apples
and to this day
don’t like to eat raw apples
Apples used to be simple fruits
but now there are all sorts
of new GMO apples
hitting the market
and where this will end
is anyone’s guest
apples will continue
until the last human
eats the last apple
Hopefully that will not happen
until far in the future
but perhaps it might
be sooner than we think
