the Last Leprechaun’s Lament
Sara
the last leprechaun
sitting on a leaf
in a forrest swamp
lost in time
thinking of her past
thinking of the end
of the world
the world yet to come
filled with regrets
and laments
thinking dark thoughts
of all that might have been
all that is seen and unseen
knowing that the world
would soon come to an end
as things wind down
and humanity
has its last breath
and the leprechaun’s magic
fades into nothingness
