Haunting demons dance in my dreams

laughing and agreeing

while I, in search of the truth,

couldn’t believe what I was seeing

They unlock the door to painful memories

trying to disrupt my peace of mind

then disappear in the midnight hour

leaving a trail of doubt behind

I fear each time I close my eyes

they will continue on their quest

unless I finally confront their threats

and lay the past to rest
