Under Water by Piero G. Sarmiento Alosilla

When I am under water

I lose myself

Among the clashing waves

As I deface and crumble down

What is left from

My ego, identity, and sense of self.

When I am under water

I do not only make a fool out of myself

But I also jostle against gravity,

Get rid of my attention-whore personality

And let go of my dichotomous duality,

Creed and the need

To always be right.

When I am under water

There is no need to be right!

I just stop taking myself so seriously

As I playfully

Loosen up my tight grip and rigid muscles

While I twist and turn

While I hip and hop around

While I drop and crack my hips out of control

With unapologetic and unrestricted self-expression.

When I am under water

I just detach myself

From any outcomes or illusive expectation

From any poisonous recollection,

From any potential self-inflicting altercation

That might distract me

From savoring this ephemeral perfection.
