I’m ok
I’m a big boy now
and I sleep all by myself
I’m no longer disenchanted by not having you to hold
And I’m actually kind of getting use to the quiet nights alone with just my books and a bottle of wine to keep me company.
I finally got around to changing the sheets and pillow cases
that for weeks seemed to embrace the familiar scent of your skin. And just yesterday I discarded our favorite comforter.
I even removed your picture from the nightstand.
You know, the one with you wearing that sexy red sundress I bought while we were in Panama last year.
So you see
I’m ok
I’m a big boy now
and I sleep all by myself.
But sometimes…I cry.

Gorgeously human writing, so touching and intimate.
