They give me a blanket, a bowl of soup
and let me sleep on the auditorium floor
on cold winter nights

This is like paradise compared to
some of the places I have been

holes of mud with days of pouring rain
waiting for the Calvary to come

at war in the desert with the sun blistering my skin
and where water was rationed as needed

and drunk in the sewers sitting next to mutant rats
feasting on rotten meat

They tell me this place is all they have to offer
this is luxury for me
