Circa ’79 a movement surfacing from the underground
Rhythmic four beat counts emerging with this new sound
Boom boxes, graffiti, tagging, to that b-boy stance
Countless battles ensuing on who was the best at break-dance
Consciousness was at its apex
Fighting the powers that be; what will come next
Various cliques and factions always seem to be clashing
Gold medallions, chains and trendy fashions is what they were flashing
Turn on the radio and what is heard now
Hot sex served on a platter, nice whips, to taking a vow
On corrupting young minds that is convoluted
To sampling of soulful sounds that are heavily diluted
Prospects awaiting their turn just to get in
Ask yourself; is it worth it in the end?
