Living Light
Another cool day with gloomy sky
The trees void of their leaves and color
She walks as if in a daze of loneliness
Eyes closed and peering through small slits
Afraid to open her eyes or just not enough strength
Looks toward her feet all around everywhere
The fire flies have come to cheer her
They will comfort her and guide her to warmth
Tiny miraculous insects that are so much taken for granted
Get close and let the little living lights bump into you
They will make her feel alive again
With light comes love
After all, it does not stay cloudy forever

Meet the Author: Russell “Rusty” Shuping Born 1955 in North Carolina and continues to live there. He has studied Creative Writing at RCCC, Salisbury, NC.
