Journal Entry: May, 1981
They know. My mom and dad know where the bruises have come from now. I couldn’t hide this one. He hit me in the face.
Sometimes… Well, no. He’s been mean to me for a long time and I kept believing him every time he said he was sorry. And he’d be mean again. And I’d go back again.
I don’t understand what’s wrong with me. But when he hit me, I saw stars and I almost passed out, but I didn’t. I had to stay conscious. And when he walked into the bathroom like nothing happened I knew that if I stayed around I could die. I could see the future.
I ran out the back door and kept going. Alleys. I ran down alleys the opposite way that he would go to find me. My head hurts so bad.
