I am but a dream
forced unto reality
there is no serenity
in the day to day
it comes with Nature’s embrace
leaves rustling in a breeze
waves lapping the sand
reality holds no appeal
only the wooded hillside
the edge of a lake
a soft flowing stream
holds me still

Maggie Mae Carter was raised in Florida and is now living in Southeast Virginia.  She has always been into art and started writing poetry regularly in 2010.  She has recently added photography to her list of creative outlets.
