Autumn’s Fall
At Fall’s finish, when darkness surged stronger,
Autumn’s sprite lamented, looking longer
into the specks of gold, gleaming to see
within the eyes of the wise wizardtree,
whom, with just one wave of his branch to raise,
transformed each charmed leaf to mirror his gaze.
The hue of his eyes harmonized the eves
as season’s spectrum transposed from his leaves
to real eyes Autumn was mesmerized
possessed by enchantment and hypnotized
by one wink of their glistening glitter,
Fall’s fairy filled of golden leaf litter.
When Winter approached and tried to take hold,
Autumn just wouldn’t let go of the gold.
Winter could not turn over a new leaf,
without first taking on a new belief;
He must become a scrounging sneak, so sly,
poaching from this sordid season’s Shanghai,
swiftly swindling a heist in his gambit,
to now become an embezzling bandit.
So, he secretly stole and forged ahead,
retrieving his yearly pickings and fled
in his larceny of lifting leaves gleam,
faded from such an enriched color scheme;
and so, he tried to collect all the gold,
whence Winter would witness Fall’s final fold.
She couldn’t compete with wily Winter
who implicated, at season’s splinter,
an oblivious breeze, that blindly blew,
caught in a kleptomania taboo,
rustling and prowling with the thief of Time,
cohorts consorting in their daze of crime.
As wayward Winter sheared Autumn’s suture,
she tried to take the Fall into the future.
Yet, her presence was past to the leaf thieves,
just when Winter took all his gold ‘n leaves.
