HOME AGAIN
This city street where I now stand…was once
a country lane
My childhood home though standing still…now
sighs a sad refrain
Progress took the fields away where I and sister
played
We chased the flitting butterflies throughout
the endless days
A lifetime lived, so much I’d give, to hear my
mother’s call
To summon me and sister….I still see her
standing tall
The garden gate that welcomed friends, was where
I stand today
Though home again I cannot go….My heart still
knows the way.
