“Price of Fame”
The price of fame,
an arm and a leg,
with the soul sold
to the devil,
if I only knew it then
trading my life for lifestyle,
I stand before millions
and never felt so alone,
a castle of gold
but the castles not
a home
the spotlight,
the limelight,
the camera flash bulbs
keep my
sunglasses on at night,
in hopes to keep
a tiny piece of myself,
for myself
the shine can be
a fluorescent burn,
you see the glamor,
I feel the weight
and search for a trap door
to my escape
the smile you see is
automatic, robotic,
with a seething anger
behind it and
a desire to fall
everybody loves me but
nobody loves me,
it’s the price of fame,
an arm and a leg,
with the soul sold
to the devil,
and I’ve lost the receipt.
