I sit waiting at the table,

Where you said we should meet.

My heart is doing double time,

And sometimes skips a beat.

My head is full of dreams,

Of what will come of this.

But silently I’m drifting off,

Into that dark abyss.

The one that got away,

The love that didn’t last,

I watched as my evermore,

Strolled right into my past.

Shake those ugly thoughts off,

Don’t give it so much time.

This is how the love game’s played,

Just one more hill to climb.
