Graveyard Friends
The little girl, with springy curls,
tiptoes around the headstones.
She whispers to the children,
not caring they are bones.
Ring around the rosy,
all fall down with glee.
She runs and plays for hours;
ghostly children, she can see.
Her energy exhausted,
she sits upon a stone.
Takes out her little notebook,
and asks to be alone.
With her thoughts so vivid,
the stories fill her head.
She knows the children are not alive,
and imagines why they are dead.
Tiny girls and chubby boys;
who have died before their time.
Some are only babies,
now resting under lime.
The sun is quickly setting;
it is time to go inside.
Tomorrow is another day,
to play with children who have died
