After a thousand lifetimes
And a million might have beens,
All the kings that passed through
Looking for potential queens.
After every sentence uttered
And the many left unsaid,
Whatever life may throw at me,
I’ll choose to paint my roses red.
After all the times I reached for flowers
But only ever found the thorns,
When bloodied hands and wounded soul
Held regrets for being born.
When all the stars I wished upon
Were just visions in my head,
Each and every morning,
I’ll choose to paint my roses red.
But all these trials – they will not stop me,
I will continue pressing on.
Chasing love’s elusive butterfly
Because that’s where my heart belongs.
I know they’re out there somewhere,
To their safe haven I’ll be led.
Then we’ll let love provide the brush strokes,
To always paint our roses red.
