To a Stranger by Anne D. Salyer

I could not help but notice you

Upon this crowded street.

You wore your differences like a mantle.

A lone pilgrim wrapped in stars,

Your lips trembled in fervent prayer

Too low for me to hear.

Our eyes met briefly

As we passed without a touch.

Now I cannot help but wonder

What beauty I may have missed.

Anne D. Salyer

I was born and grew up in a small town in Oklahoma. Eventually I escaped to Kansas where I met the love of my life with whom I’ve been with for 25 years. We currently reside in Overland Park with three cats, my neglected poetic children, and this raccoon puppet. All in all, it is a good life!
