While her stomach growled loudly
she watched them sip their gumbo
fill their fat bellies with more and more
she cleared the table
shaking her head at the bowls half full
pondering if she would get caught
savoring the left overs
but there was still some left in pot
her master scraped up the last few chunks
and the burnt bits from the bottom
into a bowl
placed it into her hands
and she smiled inside
because he did not forget her
until he commanded
it was to be given to the dog
