If you are a disease

I shall seek no immunity

but cherish every symptom

every ounce of pain

If you are a defect

I shall be a flawed diamond

eager to shine

despite my black center

If you are a missing piece

I shall be a crescent moon

delighting in my deficiency

If you are distance

I shall be a lost traveller

never arriving my destination

If you are misery

I shall be clinically depressed

moping and crying all day

If you are death

I shall be terminally ill

kissing and embracing the Grim Reaper

counting down the days
