Poetry Form: Tetractys
A Tetractys poem is a five line poem that has a syllable count for each line. Line one is one syllable, line two is two syllables, line three is three syllables, line four is four syllables, and line five is ten syllables. Each line should be independent of each other and build upon each sentence. When this poem is complete it will have a nice looking pattern. The Tetractys stanzas can also be inverted upon each other.
The pattern for Tetractys is the following:
Line 1: syllable
Line 2: 2 syllables
Line 3: 3 syllables
Line 4: 4 syllables
Line 5: 10 syllables
Example:
Sweets
Sweets
Comes in
Skyscrapers
Superheroes
Tip topping towers towering on she
Touching keys tapping tingles down her spine
A symphony
Made for her
Forehead
Kisses
Him
On
Tip toes
She sees Sun
They meet half way
Moon shines light to find her star points
The best kind of heroes don’t wear a cape
They just show up
Showering
Her with
Sweets
