There It Was
There it was
Old, tarnished, nicked up, and gray
A skeleton key to my grandparents basement
Seldom used, the lock would moan
And there I was
With my skeleton, shiny and new
There it was
Still a bit tarnished, but gleaming with use
A skeleton key to my grandparents basement
Frequented at the feverish pace of a teen on the go
And there I was
With my skeleton gleaming with use, but becoming tarnished
Here I am
Old, tarnished, nicked up, and gray
With my skeleton creaking, and moaning
And there it is
A skeleton key in my mind, shiny and new
Unlocking my heart, soul, and memories of my grandparents love
