Familiar
The creek of the door,
the lurking shadow of your body,
the cold coming in when your remove my blanket.
but they are familiar.
Your eyes take control of me,
they turn me over,
they make me cry inside,
but they are familiar.
Your on top of me,
the sweat dripping off your body,
your brow moving in itâs usually form.
but they are familiar.
The movement of your arms,
the movement of your hands,
and the movement of the collar placed around my neck.
but they are familiar.
The attempts to keep yourself quiet,
the attempts to keep me quiet,
we canât let anyone hear.
but they are familiar.
Your done with me for the night,
I did good you say,
am I supposed to say thank you?
but they are familiar.
Iâm scared and Iâm tired,
but Iâm comforted.
Am I truly comforted by your presence,
or are you just familiar?
