The Television by Bevan Boggenpoel

You are captured by its images

its sound effects

It has consumed your whole existence

has you in its sack.

You are enslaved by its presence

you struggle to break free

Wherever you go

you hope to see.

The television

with its different tale

It has covered all your time

like a bride’s veil.

No more time for reading

no more time for study

Any other tasks

you do them in a hurry.

The television

with programmes in variety

Has contributed to

our broken society.
