Voices in her room
Wakes her from her sleep,
Summer day July
She feels their hate so deep.
Blue shirts in her home
Scrutinizing all,
Wrong conclusions made;
They made her feel so small.
Somewhere deep inside
Emptiness remains.
Memories that hurt
She’ll never be the same.
Locked up in a cell
Trapped within herself,
So ready to fold
There is no way to tell.
Handcuffed on display
Scratches on her face,
Talked down as she was
It’s herself she hates.
Three days of pure hell
Darkness took its place,
Cringing as she cries
Struggles she can’t face.
