Vespertide by Donna J. Sanders

When dusk kisses the evening’s shadow

the trees dance among wisps of fog and light

They tread ever so lightly on river banks

and waltz over musty ponds

with delicate stems to revitalize

the wings of vespertide

Their hypnotic pirouettes rock the sun to sleep

for morning’s vigorous delight
