Performance By Piero G. Sarmiento Alosilla

Life

Is all about performance,

Because the way we perform

In a particular endeavor

Is also clear reflection

Of how we perform

In different aspects of our lives.

Because the way we perform

In the face of a challenging impediment

Is also a percolation,

A past preconceived recollection

From previous performances

In which we have either pushed through

Or sadly withdrew…

Because to a certain extent,

A performance is

The dividing line

The defining factor

That allows for competition.

Is the key indicator for success,

The measuring tool

For our hierarchical capitalism

And lack of altruism

When we are solely performing

For our own selfish recognition.

When we are seizing the moment

With a strong conviction

When we have the healthy

Yet insatiable addiction

To always

Outdo, outwork and outmaneuver

The rest of our fellow human beings

With our own exotic peculiarity,

When we follow our heart out

Into a deliberate unfamiliarity.

When we dive into the unknown

So then we can eventually become a re-known

Expert in our field of focus.

Because that’s all there is to life

Ladies and gentlemen!

While performing a particular endeavor

In which you are deeply passionate about,

I recommend you all to keep in mind the following:

Maintain a clear vision,

Live presently in a sense of urgency.

Live gratefully,

While emanating love and clemency.

Stay woke as fuck!

And readily focus

To execute and prosecute

Your most palpable

Yet wildest dreams,

So that you never fall into a state of complacency

Or are ready to rely

On them universal excuses

Such as your desolated upbringing,

Such as your poisoned karma,

Such as your meager luck.

Because of all these are obsolete commodities

When a serendipitous

Yet propitious opportunity

Sweeps you off your feet

And you are simply left with two options:

To perform or to flee

To fight or to fly

To be or not to be.

Man,

Call it whatever the fuck you want it to be.

But at the end of the day,

As long as you have been embellishing

Your craft and character 24/7

You will find out

That the only tangible impediment

Standing in between you

And a successful performance

Is the unconditional faith

That you should be pouring

Day-in and day-out.

So take a moment

Right here, right now

To balance and juggle

With the lingering past,

The present perfect

And the fascinating uncertain future

That performing will bring upon yourself.

And only then,

You will learn

How to perform.
