Lili Saatchi Photography, Cemetery of Staglieno in Genoa, Italy
As life danced over into death´s sweet domain,
Slowly she waltzed, knowing nothing remained,
Loves loved, all done, new futures reared & raised,
A life lived full, wending trails & hells duly blazed.
With skirts of the earth, seas & wafting air swirling,
Flounced through portals of heaven, gently unfurling,
The choral voices of the living, now beginning to pall,
Echoing footsteps, mere prints lost in memory´s hall.
“Death becomes you”, he said, offering his cold hand,
And death danced her slowly, into her new, but old land,
Now gone, the ruddy red roses from upon her pale cheek,
Leaving alabaster kisses in their place, so tender & meek.
Her ever watchful & beady eyes now close & are stilled,
Now pearly in opalescent nacre, at long last now tranquil,
Death knelt before her & asked, “Please stay & be my wife,
I´ve walked beside you forever, I´m so in love with you, my life”.
