Homage to Emily Dickinson by Glenda Higgins

A robin being a robin

A flower without a care

A person who just is

For no reason just there

Inspiring the creator

Making sense of it all

Touching me with depths

Religions and their traps

Have never found

A bug who just bites

For the blood of it all

A sun slowly falling in the fall

Making rhymes in the ripples

Of the ever changing sea

Letting me find the relentless parts

In this thing I call me

About the Author

Glenda spent her early work in libraries – ten years in various positions, including cataloguing, which launched her on a favorite pastime of reading everything under the sun.

Her start as a poet surprised her. She took a poetry-writing course. Two hundred poems wrote themselves in a furious manner, in two weeks.  This led to performing poetry in cafes and on the radio and about three hundred more poems.
