# by Elizabeth Diane Daniel

Beady eyes

Whispers

Waiting for me to fail

Miss a beat

Drop a chord

The spotlight can burn holes in the heart sometimes

Yet I’m addicted to the sounds

Driven by passion

Even when I don’t necessarily believe in myself

Driven by the applause

Even when I don’t understand why they like me

Do they really like me?

Or am I a trend?

One thing’s for certain though

It’s the people standing with me at the end that matter

At the end when the music fades

About the Author

From a very young age, Elizabeth knew she was meant to be a writer. Around 8 or so, she started with little poems inside birthday cards. As years went by, poetry became her safe haven in a world full of chaos and beauty. Through written words, she found her voice. A voice according to doctors, she was never supposed to have. Today at 34, she still re- reads those poems from the early days. Now housed on her bookshelf in old binders.
