These walls again.
Blank canvas
That paints only memories,
Red strokes
From the brush,
Anger,
Fiery orange,
Mean,
Carved pumpkin,
Slices shape me scary.
You put this face
On me.
You put this candle
In me.
I’m burning inside,
Rotting away in the open air.
Smash me in the street
When you’re done.
I’m done.
Pieces everywhere.
Just me and
Fallen leaves.
Oil and grease
And the cracks
In concrete until the street
Sweeper sweeps
Me away in pieces
And throws me to the Earth,
Maybe
I can find peace then,
Regenerate in the soil,
Under the sun,
In the air,
Anywhere then between
These walls again.
