Goodbye – Author Anne D. Salyer

Am I lost?

I pick up sticks with no intentions.

Hide in the smallest places.

The world keeps spinning

Though I stay in place.

My resolve is

To look no farther

Than the twitch of my eye.

Yet,

My head echoes

With the music of my soul.

I smile my secret smile.

Those who say they know me

Will never know

I have left this place.

My shadow stays

To mark my passing

As I quietly say “goodbye.”

Anne D. Salyer

I was born and grew up in a small town in Oklahoma. Eventually I escaped to Kansas where I met the love of my life with whom I’ve been with for 25 years. We currently reside in Overland Park with three cats, my neglected poetic children, and this raccoon puppet. All in all, it is a good life!
