I’ve waltzed with the devil,
Danced with an angel too,
Most the time I couldn’t tell
Exactly who was who.
To hell I’ve been with both,
Though I was promised bliss,
They came disguised as love,
Then something went amiss.
Lost in my confusion,
I tried to hold on tight,
All the while I was sure
That things just were not right.
My angel turned to dust,
The devil came to play,
I tried love and kindness,
I should’ve run away.
There’s no match for either,
No matter what you try,
Run like hell, fly away,
To stay you’ll have to die.
It’d be a long, slow death,
Demise from inside out,
By the time it’s over
You’re only left with doubt.
Heed my tale of warning,
Get out while you’re alive,
It’s on your blood and soul,
These imposters thrive.
