I hide in my body,
Behind these closed doors,
No trauma, no strife,
No pain anymore.
I’ve put up the shields,
My memories wane,
I drive out the fears
To keep myself sane.
My heart’s torn open,
The blood still pours out,
One more direct hit,
Survival’s in doubt.
I’ll stay here alone,
Safe, locked in my mind,
Till my spirit heals
And my wounds can bind.
For now I will lay
Safe, tucked in my bed,
Chasing out demons
That live in my head.
The day soon will come,
I’ll be healed and strong,
Warriors do fall,
But don’t stay down long.
