Author Adam Levon Brown – The Lost Soul

Stuck and stranded between the holy,

gold-laden gates of heaven and the profane,

luminescent fires of hell.

Some would call this place purgatory.

Lost and broken,

my heart beats with the strum of one thousand questions.

One lone question

breathes through the lungs of my mind,

and dominates all others

To journey across the halycon lakes,

to hear the elysian trumpeting of the blessed cherubs?

Or to travel the searing Devil’s road . . .

To converse with lord of darkness,

about the mysteries of the cosmos?

Both choices present themselves; with obvious benefits.

But which to choose?

I stretch my confused brain for the answer.

And upon much contemplation, a decision is made.

To hell with my tattered, broken soul.

I shall learn the secrets of the universe.

And to hell with sanctimonious deities,

of white-golden light.

What has “God” ever done for me?

I shall bathe in the rivers of crimson, forevermore ~

It is where I belong, forevermore…
