Words fell so easily from his mouth; blue streaks of tender notions painting her heart with images of something to come, some beginning to cherish. She had just picked up the pieces from the last time someone had painted her heart that way and then dropped the brush just as she began to believe the fairytale.
No more words woven from the cracked and dirty filters of the broken would sway her this time.
All she asked for was honesty.
All she needed was action.
Don’t whisper in the dark of shooting stars. Don’t dance with my imagination fueling my dreams with fancy phrases and blue streaks of prose. Don’t push me over the edge of emotion with no intention of catching me in the daylight. Don’t tell me your soul is on fire.
Let me watch it burn.

About the Author
Tracy Seiden lives in Texas. She works in disaster assistance helping others regain their homes after disasters such as flooding and hurricanes. Her desire is to retire to live in a cabin by the water somewhere, able to look out over the water and write.
