City Birds – Author Glenda Higgins

Can you sing with me

A song that glows

And dances in your soul

Lighting me on fire

Candles in the wind

Making life begin

Sing to me of sidewalks

Gray in the morning light

Traveling to the seashore

Where dull pigeons take flight

Grayness of the tailored suit

Shining in the sun

Taking to forever skies

White wings against the wind

Making the heart skip

In the silence of the breath

Sing to me of love

As you travel the sky above

City birds in the morning

About the Author

Glenda spent her early work in libraries – ten years in various positions, including cataloguing, which launched her on a favorite pastime of reading everything under the sun.

Her start as a poet surprised her. She took a poetry-writing course. Two hundred poems wrote themselves in a furious manner, in two weeks.  This led to performing poetry in cafes and on the radio and about three hundred more poems.
