The Shrill

In the dead of night,

upon a haunted rise.

Blackbirds serenade

in shrieking shrills.

Sonnets to the lonely

feed icy crispy mists;

pouting moon dances;

clouds blow a kiss.

Coyotes sing to stars

sharp like the blade

vibrations are nearby

in the muddy hollow.

Sunrise chased away

fight leaves in the light

singing a sonnet of joy,

Blackbirds shall return.
