The truth is….
I spent many years locked in a cage.
From a very young age.
My freedom was caved.
I kept my face buried in a page.
Reading through rage.
Writing to be saved.
I couldn’t explain
The source of my pain.
Or why I couldn’t refrain
From my youth in chains.
But now, I can see.
Many years later, I’m free.
And more free than I ever knew I could be.
How is this a possibility?
I thought I was just a liability.
An exercise in futility.
Yet now I am the ability,
To make them see
The truth about me.
