Silent Trumpet

The revolution will not be televised
Vices of a man that was well publicized
Old school wisdom through social commentary
To take heed or not to heed; results may vary
At a time when the world was in a tailspin
While it was cool to be proud of one’s black skin
Crossing all cultures and various barriers
While questioning who will survive in America
Professing the truth in time of civil unrest
Armed with red, black, and green; ready to protest
A constant internal war with demons didn’t seem to stop
Rest in peace to the godfather of hip-hop
