There are days we crave
a sweet red meat from animals most sacred
Sometimes we salivate
over a delicate sugary treat from forbidden fruits
We walk past brand name boots
leaving our pockets barren
and hypnotized into debt
for the newest gadget way out of reach
Once our gluttonous desires are fulfill
we discard the things that don’t fill us with miniature joys
our disregard for their values
transform us into spiritless beings
But in the place where seagulls and vultures
stalk their next meal
the impoverished find treasures
in the little things we so easily forsake
