Winter brings temperatures that breath can be seen
Cold lives and gives life to black ice that cannot
Feelings that brought the warmth of sunlight have dissipated
The Sun shines but the air is cold
The future door has been closed
Homelessness hurts, where will I sleep?
What I owned relegated to a grocery cart
Love frozen to the metal frame
Compassion thrown about tattered and torn
Connection broken to never be repaired
Lost because donât know how the situation came to be
Wrapped is sadness and wonder
Can a person claim Christian and be unfeeling?
Be given what was asked for and want it returned?
I am not something that can be brought then discarded
Started with the promise of something to build and last
Excited to the ability to create a place of our own
With belongings of togetherness to furnish and bring comfort
Now everything is done told Iâm no longer needed
So wandering the streets of confusion and unhappiness
Not understanding what it was that was done to start the -tear
which ripped the fabric of serenity
You made a decision that you call a struggle
Asked me to stay outside and take care of myself
But I care and want to come home
I now know that shelter for me lies in another place
Not to walk these streets alone
Will be called to come out from the cold
To be warmed and comforted
In the loving arms of another
