Today is Me
Knowing that I have been gifted
My mind is confused and drifting
Working to understand the strife
That continues to hinder my life
I desire to be compassionate on understanding
But people can be mean and damning
I want to be close and love freely
But responses are cold and steely
Maybe the fault lies with me
I want to change how I be
The day brings clouds and rain
Stress causes a painful strain
So looking inward to find a solution
To end the bitter revolution
Of not hearing anything of emotion
Staying silent and stirring up the commotion
Of what you feel is the statement of today
Gloomy, dull and dark
Let light shine through with a spark
To reach out to the one you say you love
At my heartstrings I need to be tugged
Not feeling the love I crave at the moment
Agonizing in my private torment
And not be spiteful and speak to others
Before you know it will be tomorrow
